Light and Shade

I came across Mary Temples recent work on projections a couple of weeks ago on a newly discovered blog. I have been taking pictures of shadows for a while now and her work spurred me on to take some more and make up this post. The stark summer light has been creating some grand shadows that stretch or creep unhindered by passing cloud cover. As I was taking these pictures I was thinking about how ghostly some of the shadows were, especially those cast by the avenue of old Jacarandas around the corner. That road seems so alive in the mid day sun, up above and down below on the ground there is movement and light and shade, and then the sun moves and the shadow world begins to fade.

shadows are special and I think it is due to their impermanence. I often marvel at their fleeting beauty.
Your photos are stunning.
