last night, ghostly branches against winters greyest skies

A couple of days at the seaside. I found myself taking a couple of deep breaths and then without any thoughts of resistance found myself slowing down after weeks of activity and must do's. The days were misty, the seas were choppy and there was a king tide - the highest in 7 years we heard. In someplace there was no sand to walk on and the winter sun only showed itself once or twice. But we found many things to do and an ever so cozy place to have hot chocolates and a good glass or two of red wine. Just before we headed off the skies cleared and I took this gull picture. The sun followed us on the drive home.

Hello holiday! One week home with the kids this week. Pancakes for breakfast and now off to the markets for the weekly shop up, camera in hand and a skip in my step. back later x

Middle winter weekend - wow wee, the weeks have been moving quickly by and I am very much looking forward to a week off over the school break but in between there's been lots of hot cups of tea, an excellent book, pretty pictures, games of uno, a big orange pot of lentil stew, a little warming wine, gas heater on high, catching moments of winter sun. Enjoy your week and take it easy when you can x

seven is seven

and so it goes that the littlest in our family is no longer so little. It has been a week or so since she turned 7 and although so far she doesn't seem much different, we both know that 7 up will bring many new changes, many of which we look forward to sharing and being apart of. Happy birthday sweetheart! and happy birthday B today x

It was a rainy old weekend. Last night it felt so good to get under the covers a little earlier than usual and to have a snuggle, sips of warm milk and tea and adding an extra book to the usual bedtime quota.
