folk

1. fit, 2. String Game, 3. the beautiful sleep (far), 4. rose is a rose head band, 5. Untitled, 6. Tyler my Tyler. , 7. Untitled, 8. rose crown, 9. Untitled. Tonight while wandering around Flickr the fourth image caught my interest, and that was it, my old love of portraiture came back to me. Even though there is an illustration in the tile and one or two photos may not be strictly portraiture, this photo tile is a little celebration for an old love and (when it comes to photography) my first love.

Autumn, you're just in time

Ducks a flying and hearts a burning. The Adelaide Festival draws us out on a cool Sunday evening. A basket of trusty Autumn favourites gets a spot by our front door. Since seeing the film Julie and Julia our consumption of butter has gone up and the olive oil has barely made it out of the pantry. My daughter asked me to make the chocolate cake from the film. I found the recipe but making it would have required a good shop up to gather all of the ingredients. I went on the hunt for a more simple but still decadent recipe and found the perfect one from Leave room for dessert.....

the in between

Hello, how busy are the days! In between being out and about, at school and at work there are the in between times when the girls can make up there own games, I can wander (wonder) around with my camera, and we can think about what we we would like to do next, be it running a lazy finger along the spines in the bookshelf, baking a cake or making plans of some sort. These in between times are the times when I think about how quickly time passes, how the girls are growing and of all the things we enjoy together. Two baby teeth lost and two new adult teeth growing in their place x.

making

A fun day at home today. We baked and made my little one and I. These days are becoming like gold now that she has started at school and I am finding that we are doing many of our old favourites on her odd days at home. The oat cookies were a winner and will be popped into tomorrows lunch boxes.

Oat cookies -

1 cup of butter, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, dash of vanilla, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, pinch of salt, 2 cups oats. - cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs, add vanilla, sift in flour, soda, salt then stir in oats. Cook at moderate heat for about 15 minutes until golden. x

days of summer

Counting down the days now. I have enjoyed sitting on the porch at night and gazing up at the summer skies, sipping cold beer with an ice cube or two, the trips to the beach and the swims at the local pool, but now I feel ready to bid goodbye to the dry heat, the long days and the bright skies. I wonder when summer will be ready to bid us farewell.

all that glitters all that's golden A short break away to the coast. Our eyes squinting at the dazzling ocean hit by the morning sun. So many wildflowers and grasses on the winding roads.

around the place

Walking, running, resting. We have been exploring the new neighbourhood. It is the hilliest place I have lived in and we are having fun going down hill to the river. My little one bolts along and has a growing collection of knee scuffs and scraps. Goodluck to all those little ones starting school for the first time this week x.

Wandering around food markets. Eating ice cream with red bean paste. Leaving plenty of cake batter on the beaters.

on the road

******THRIFTED TUESDAY - EARLY BIRD EDITION*********

It's great to be back!!! Illness, a house move and dial up have been enough to keep me away from this space and from my treasured wanderings to others, and it was with anticipation that I put together these photos today. Thankyou for the lovely comments I received on my last short post, they were warmly appreciated x. I am all better now and things have settled on most fronts that I have found that time and energy are in good supply. I am looking forward to a new year of visual meanderings, visiting and discovering. On discovering, we have many thrift stores nearby. Already my older girl has began a happy relationship with our local Salvos volunteer who has been sourcing some great children's books for her.

a little note

What a crazy month it has been. A dose of pneumonia and moving house has kept me far away from this little space. I am looking forward to many more posts, photos and visits in the coming year. Have a safe and happy christmas x.

untitled sunday

I have had some time to look back over the last few weeks. A good dose of pneumonia has kept me pretty much in bed and by myself much of the time with loved ones staying at a safe distance. We are also moving from our home of seven years in a couple of weekends and I have found myself feeling very retrospective and sentimental, which has prompted this pre-Christmas pictorial look back at some of my favourite photos from this space. Here is a little something that I came across this morning that brightened up my day: :) - oh what beautiful colours and patterns x
